How to Change Sign-in Screen Background Image in Windows 10

Previously with default settings, there was no way to change Windows 10 login screen background image. But with the Redstone update, Microsoft added one of the most awaited feature in Windows 10 using which you can change the Sign-in screen background image to the photo you want.

Windows 10 is home for useful personalization features and one out of them is login screen background. The new login screen in Windows 10 uses the circular picture of your instead of the square picture which was used in the previous version of Windows.

By default, Windows 10 login screen uses the default desktop background i.e. Hero Wallpaper, as a background photo in the login screen which shows the blue screen of light emerging from the Windows 10 logo, which is really awesome. But there is one problem, Microsoft has provided no option to change login screen background image in Windows 10 and if the user wants, then background image can be changed to solid colors just like in Windows 8 just by disabling sign-in screen background.

To disable the sign-in screen background in Windows 10, you just need to launch Settings app->Personalization->Lock Screen-> On the right side look for “Show Windows background picture on the sign-in screen” move the toggle to left to turn it off.

In case, you want to completely change the sign-in background image in Windows 10, then you can also do that if you’re running Windows 10 version 14291 or above. Simply follow the steps in upcoming lines.

How to change the sign in screen background image in Windows 10

1. Launch the Settings app from the Start menu.

2. After that click on Personalization option.

3. On the left pane select Lock screen, and on the right side under Background select Picture option and change the background to the one you want to set as sign-in background.

4. Now, navigate to the option named as Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen. Enable it by moving the toggle.

That’s it! From the next time, you will see the beautiful lock screen background image is used on the login screen.

This is really an amazing change in Windows 10 because the use of two screens is not so useful. But with the help of this new settings users can simply change or customize the logon screen instead of always showing the default blue Windows 10 logo.

  1. What the fuck am I reading? The option you screen captured does not even match what you said “Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen” no?? It says “Show Windows background” which is the system background which can’t be changed without a tweak.
